“Never Underestimate the Power of a Business Brand” Tip From Randy VanderVaate

Most business owners know that they own or operate a business, but don’t realize that they also own a business brand….either a good one, or a bad one.

In my industry, life insurance agents are a dime a dozen, and the different insurance companies offer the same pricing to every agent in the United States.

What sets some agents and businesses apart from other agents or businesses is their brand (either their personal brand or the brand of the business brand of their employer).

Using life insurance as an example, when people think about buying life insurance, you want them to think of your company first, rather than the life insurance who lives down the street. This is easier said than done, and it is something a business owner needs to be focused on daily.

When consumers think of soft drinks, they often think of Coke and Pepsi first. When consumers think of fast food, they think of McDonald’s and Burger King first.

When consumers think of life insurance for people ages 50-85 years old, I want them to think of my business first!

Business owners know they need to create a brand. But, far too often, they are too busy running their businesses daily operations, and they neglect to focus on building a business legacy.

How are a brand and legacy built?

Advertising, online reviews, and word of mouth from happy clients are the most significant contributors to a business’s brand.

How do you accomplish building an amazing business brand? Simply by having your “brand” be the single most significant daily focus of your business. By focusing on creating an amazing business brand, everything else about your business will improve.

In closing: In a world where the consumer’s attention is being drawn in hundreds of different directions every day, they need to think about you, your business, and your brand first if you are going to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.
